HeRoNZ was established in early 2004 by a group of health researchers and supportive individuals based at Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences. In May 2006, this group was formally registered as an Incorporated Society, with the revised name HRONZ Inc (Incorporation number 1808976).
Mission Statement
We seek to protect and increase government and private sector investment in health research, to improve the health and economic prosperity of all New Zealanders.
Objectives
- To articulate the views of New Zealand health researchers to government, funding agencies, host institutions and the public with the aim of fostering high quality health research in New Zealand.
- To monitor and advocate for the adequate funding of peer-reviewed health research in New Zealand, at a level commensurate with OECD trends.
- To advocate for and promote the development of viable career pathways for New Zealand health researchers.
- To enhance awareness of both health and economic benefits of health research.
